4 Open Enrollment Dates You Don’t Want to Miss
by December 10, 2015
Here in Utah, we know November to January means snow, inversions and a lot of hot chocolate. But during the holiday season we also have Open Enrollment, the annual three-month span when individuals and families can enroll, renew or change their health care plan and avoid a tax penalty. Open Enrollment is already underway for the 2016 calendar year, but it is not too late to enroll for coverage.
If you are looking to enroll in health care, renew your plan or want to change your plan, we have highlighted the four most important dates to mark on your calendar during Open Enrollment Period:
Today: There is no better time to enroll than today. By calling one of our agents and starting the process you can make sure you’ll have coverage before one of the following cut off dates:
December 15, 2015: This is the last day to enroll in or change plans for health care coverage to start effective January 1, 2016.
January 15, 2016: This is the last day to enroll in or change plans for health care coverage to start effective February 1, 2016.
January 31, 2016: 2016 Open Enrollment ends. If you enroll or change your health care plan between January 16 and January 31, your coverage will take effect on March 1, 2016. If you do not enroll by January 31 and do not have any health insurance, you risk receiving the tax penalty.
Enrollment USA can help you enroll or change your health care plan during these dates. We offer a fast and easy way to go online and discover the best options for health care. Through our call center we can help you compare plans from all the top health insurance carriers in Utah, including Select Health, Humana, Molina, United Healthcare, Altius and BlueCross BlueShield.
Our online comparison tool allows you to choose preferences that make sense for your family’s needs. We will ask you questions like what prescription drugs your family takes, how much you want to pay out of pocket and how you prefer to pay for your insurance. Then, we will match you with the right plan for your needs. If you qualify for a subsidy, we can help you enroll with the credit.
If you are not looking to enroll or change your health care plan, Enrollment USA can help you validate your existing plan. In Utah, health insurers will raise policy rates by anywhere from 10 to 45 percent in 2016. We can help you validate that you still have a plan that fits your finances and health care needs.
